This past spring, we had the absolute pleasure of exploring some of the most exclusive wedding venues in Tuscany. Over four unforgettable days, we toured seven breathtaking properties alongside a small group of elite international wedding planners (yes, it was as dreamy as it sounds).
We came away inspired, well-fed, and more convinced than ever that Italian weddings remain one of the most romantic and luxurious experiences for couples who want a destination wedding unlike any other. From restored medieval villages to Michelin-starred cuisine and panoramic vineyard views, Tuscany delivers it all with ease, elegance, and that warm Italian welcome.

Day One: A Grand Beginning at Villa Medicea di Lilliano
We kicked off our trip at Villa Medicea di Lilliano, a refined estate just outside Florence (a mere 25 minutes from the airport. Convenient, right?). With centuries-old Medici roots and sprawling gardens surrounded by olive groves and vineyards, this Italian wedding venue is ideal for couples seeking history, authenticity, and classic Tuscan charm.
The property offers accommodation for up to 44 guests on-site and collaborates with nearby villas for overflow. Their largest indoor space, the Limonaia Banquet Hall, seats 150—an important bonus when planning for weather.
We stayed here our first night and enjoyed a lovely welcome dinner. While it’s not the most activity-filled venue for guests, it makes up for it in elegance and location. (Florence day trips, anyone?)

Day Two: Castles, Vineyards, and Quiet Luxury
COMO Castello Del Nero
On day two, we ventured to COMO Castello Del Nero, a twelfth-century castle with modern interiors and views that made us stop mid-sentence. Set in the Chianti wine region, this estate has 12 venue spaces, a consecrated chapel, and an exquisite COMO Shambhala Spa.
We had lunch here and the cuisine was exactly what you’d expect from a Michelin-starred kitchen (elegant, flavorful, and perfectly Tuscan).
Plus, it’s perfect for a multi-day celebration with up to 120 guests. Bonus? It’s just 30 minutes from Florence airport. We can already picture the Vespa send-off!
Borgo Pignano
Next up: Borgo Pignano, a peaceful hilltop estate that felt like stepping into a Tuscan fairytale. With organic gardens, a historic ballroom, woodland ceremony settings, and private villas, this venue is ideal for couples who want seclusion with substance.
We loved their soap-making workshop and fresh, organic meals made with estate-grown ingredients. Capacity-wise, it sleeps up to 120 guests and hosts events for up to 150 people.

Fontanelle Estate
To end the day, we visited Hotel Le Fontanelle and The Club House, two distinct properties under the Fontanelle Estate brand. Le Fontanelle is a classic, elegant 5-star hotel, while The Club House is a sleek, adults-only haven with tennis courts, golf, a world-class spa, and a Michelin-starred restaurant.
We stayed at The Club House, and dinner here was a highlight. These venues are best for couples who want the privacy of a buyout but with resort-style amenities (yes, including a wine safari).

Day Three: Immersive Tuscany and Our Personal Favorite
Borgo San Felice
Of all the wedding venues in Tuscany we explored, Borgo San Felice was our favorite. This restored 1600+ acre medieval hamlet in the Chianti hills feels like its own little Tuscan village. With a central piazza, two chapels, and charming stone lanes once home to a bakery, school, and olive press.
Now a Relais & Châteaux property, it offers 135 guest beds, two private pool villas, and beautiful event settings from olive groves to loggias. We had lunch here and dined at their Michelin-starred restaurant, Il Poggio Rosso (it’s as delicious as it sounds).
Ultimately, for couples wanting a full buyout and multi-day celebration, this venue has everything—privacy, beauty, and authenticity. We’d go back in a heartbeat.

Il Borro
Later that day, we toured Il Borro, a top-tier Relais & Châteaux property owned by the Ferragamo family. Undeniably, this is one of the most exclusive and luxurious wedding venues in Tuscany. A private 1,100-acre estate where elegance meets heritage (and sustainability is woven into every detail).
With that in mind, the estate’s multiple villas, restored farmhouses, and up to 195 guest beds, make it ideal for large, multi-day celebrations with a high-end design vision. Event options range from romantic gardens and terraces to a dramatic amphitheater.
During our visit, we explored the private art gallery of Ferruccio Ferragamo, toured the wine cellars, and enjoyed a tasting of their estate wines. All in all, it’s a destination for couples who want not just a wedding, but an unforgettable experience.
Day Four: A Romantic Finish at Viesca Toscana
Lastly, we wrapped our 4 day tour at Viesca Toscana, Il Borro’s sister property. With its Renaissance roots and 16th-century manor house, Viesca offers a more relaxed (yet still luxurious) atmosphere.
Guests can stay across six private villas, twenty suites, and enjoy activities like cooking classes, poolside lounging, and bike rides through the countryside. With room for up to 120 guests, this venue is a strong choice for a family-style, multi-day celebration with an elevated feel.
We spent our final night here and shared an interactive dinner with the properties chef Andrea Campani. It was truly a memorable and intimate way to close out the trip (and such a fun idea for pre-wedding events!).
Planning a Wedding in Tuscany: What to Know
From this immersive trip, we learned so much about what truly makes Tuscany weddings magical. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Wedding budgets at these venues typically start around $250,000 and can easily exceed $1M depending on guest count, design scope, and event length.
- The best seasons to marry in Tuscany are late spring (May/June) and early fall (September/October).
- We toured in mid-April, and while it was beautiful (we were in Italy afterall), the weather was cool and a bit rainy.
- Florence Airport is your best bet for international arrivals.
- Consider a 10–12 day Italian itinerary for your guests, with stops in Rome, Florence, and Tuscany. (We’re happy to build this into your wedding weekend.)
