How They Met

Marisa and Zach’s story begins in New Orleans at Tulane University. A chance introduction at a downtown bar, Zach noticing Marisa ordering a drink on her own and coming over to say hello, turned into the start of everything.

About the Venue

They first came to us during their venue search with a clear vision: an elegant farmhouse atmosphere that felt modern, cozy, and design-forward (nothing too rustic). They wanted natural wood tones, expansive greenery and views, and intimate evening lighting that would make the entire celebration feel warm and inviting after sunset. That vision is exactly what led us to Hayfield Barn in the Catskills; a setting that naturally delivers the clean architectural lines, open landscape, and elevated simplicity they were looking for.

The Vision for The Wedding

Their planning priorities were just as considered as their aesthetic. Sustainability matters deeply to them, and we made a focus on low-waste choices and a plastic-free mindset wherever possible. This was a top consideration with vendor selection, mindful packaging, and details that were elevated without being excessive.

And because New Orleans will always be part of their foundation, they’re weaving it into the day in a way that feels authentic and understated: a second line-style transition from ceremony to cocktail hour, and menu moments with a subtle Louisiana nod, spirited and soulful, without anything themed or stereotypical.

The design palette lives in whites and greens, layered with lush plant materials, candlelight, and select tropical florals for a fresh contrast bringing a hint of New Orleans warmth into a Hudson Valley setting in a beautifully edited way. Add in the sentiment of marrying in Marisa’s grandparents’ wedding rings, and the celebration becomes what they always wanted: personal, elevated, and rooted luxury with heart and purpose.
